Best Workout
There’s no such thing as a “Best Workout” for everyone – But there is a workout that will suit you better than any other workout on the planet. What is this workout and how do you find out what it is for you?
Most Importantly, Find Something You Love
The most important thing you could do for your personal fitness is to find something that you absolutely love doing.
The people who stick with a workout are the people who really love the workouts. The people who don’t stick to it and quit after a period of time are the people who are really just doing the workouts because they feel like they “should” – And actually hate the exercises they’re doing.
The idea here isn’t to make yourself like something you don’t like. Instead, it’s about finding the exercise you like and then developing a consistent workout practice around that thing you love.
Workouts to Try
There are many different kinds of workouts you can try. Here are just a few.
Running, Cycling – These are both very common workouts that many people love. Most people who run either love running in nature, or love the feeling of catching that “second wind” after passing the point of exhaustion.
Swimming, Water Volleyball – Love the feeling of water on your skin? Try taking up swimming. If you want something even more exciting, consider water volleyball, which is both cardio and very leg-intensive in its workout.
Kickboxing, Martial Arts – Feel drawn to the combat arts? Whether you want to actually get in the ring and fight or not, martial arts is a great way to work out your whole body.
Sports – Tennis, soccer, football, volleyball, badminton, etc are all great ways to get exercise while having a lot of fun. It may take some time to find a sport you really love, but once you do, stick to it and really push yourself.
A Quick Word on Diet
Often times the most important thing for your fitness is not actually your workout – It’s your diet. In fact, if you’re not eating right, it’s nearly impossible to build a high level of fitness and physique.
As a rule of thumb, if you’re consuming more fat than you’re burning, you’re not going to lose weight or build muscle.
To really build a great body, you must cut out things like pizza and McDonalds. If you want to add in supplements, greens, proteins, etc that’s great – But it’s far more important to cut out the bad foods than to add in the good.
Getting in the Workout Habit
Once you find the workout that you really love, then it’s time to get in a routine with that workout.
If your workout is rock climbing for example, it’s not good enough to just do it once a month as a hobby. Instead, get a membership at a rock climbing gym and really put yourself into it.
The idea behind working out is to find something you can do consistently 2-4 times a week. Once you do, you’ll find that your physical condition will improve very quickly.
